Copenhagen from the Sky

‘Copenhagen from the Sky’ is a photographic declaration of love for Copenhagen. For many years, Nicolas Cosedis has photographed Copenhagen from above, and this book presents a selection of the very best of his aerial photographs.

From an airplane high above the city’s rooftops, he shows us a view of Copenhagen that is normally reserved for the birds. If we thought we knew the city like the back of our hand, Nicolas shows us how much more there is to discover.

The photographs are accompanied by insightful texts written by architecture critic Holger Dahl, who draws on his in-depth knowledge of the city and its architecture to elaborate on Nicolas’s photographs. The book takes us on a tour all around the city, from the districts of Østerbro, Nørrebro and Vesterbro to Frederiksberg and the island of Amager with excursions to the northern suburbs.

The self-taught photographer based in Copenhagen, Nicolas Cosedis has portrayed cities, landscapes, people and streets. In recent years has worked exclusively with aerial photography.

Holger Dahl is an architect and the architecture editor of the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende. His writings include the weekly column ‘The Copenhagenite’ about Copenhagen’s buildings, streets and life.
