Bauhaus Christmas Ornaments
Designed around 1930 for private use by architect Johannes Gabriel while he was faculty at the Bauhaus Dessau School, and mentioned in Christbaum Schmuck, by Eva Stille. The original set of 12 ornaments was acquired by Peter Kahane at an auction comprising of several other Gabriel family possessions and archives. Reproduced to exact scale and color, the re-edited set was released in celebration of the centennial of the Bauhaus (1919-2019), their geometric forms being both traditional in Germany as well as reminiscent of the costume designs of Oskar Schlemmer for Tragic Ballet. The originals were found in an estate of an architect from Cologne who purchased many objects directly from the Bauhaus.
