Thoravej 29

Slabs tilt into stairways, facades turn to pavement, and doors morph into furniture: Every element is utilised. Thoravej 29 is a building that repurposes itself and highlights reused components by amplifying what already exists. 

This book follows the transformation of a former factory from 1967 into a vibrant community. It documents everything – from the initial analysis of the existing structure to the retention and repurposing of 95% of its materials based on their inherent qualities – resulting in both a coherent physical space and an experimental pursuit of systemic change.

Thoravej 29 er et banebrydende eksempel på bæredygtig arkitektur. En tidligere industribygning er forvandlet til et åbent og dynamisk community for 178 mennesker. Med innovative greb som genbrugte TT-dæk til trapper skabes lys, luft og nye forbindelser. Transformationen har sparet 88% CO2 og viser, hvordan eksisterende bygninger kan omdannes med omtanke for både miljø og fællesskab.
