Not only has the book received a new typography by Hannele Grnlund; it has also been freshly illustrated throughout with colour photographs of Zumthors new home and studio in Haldenstein, taken specially for this edition by Laura Padgett herself. In his texts, Peter Zumthor expresses his motivation in designing these buildings, which speak to our feeling and understanding in so many ways and possess a powerful and unmistakable presence and personality. The same sense of peace and calmness attaches itself to this book as to its sister title, Atmospheres.
