For 30 years Steen Høyer has observed and scrutinized the relationship between society, comprehension, space and materials through unconventional and beautiful installations, sketches, models, architectural projects, writings and teaching materials. The book is thus elevated from the portrait of a person and his work to a poetic and relevant contribution to the gravity, pleasure and energy necessary to expand our usual frames of understanding.
The anthology begins with an introductory statement by the American landscape architect, professor Anne Whinston Spirn. It is divided into thematic blocks of model studies, mail art, urban and landscape photographs and architectural projects bound together by brief reference texts. Texts by the landscape architect Kristine Jensen, PhD, painter Martin Erik Andersen and writer Magnus Thorøe Clausen overlay and enlarge upon Høyers works. The book closes with an interview in which the architectural writer and art historian Carsten Thau uncloaks the person, artist and landscape architect Steen Høyer.
The book is richly illustrated with colour photos and sketches.Published in a a Danish and English language edition.
