The architectural drawing has attained a special status in the exploration and description of architectonic issues. Not merely as a representation of architectonic appearance in the dissemination of projects. Over the last decades it has also become an independent medium for reflection upon architecture. The development of special forms of notation is well known. This illustrates the artistic discourses surrounding possible architectonic meanings.

Here it is especially the development of the illustrated landscape – including morphological and topological configurations - which grant the drawing a special attention in reflection and in generating architecture. This collection of reflective architectural drawings may be seen from this perspective.

Department 6: Achitecture, space and form, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture has through the years of teaching developed a comprehensive material in relation to the architectural development of propositions concerning drawing and composition, diagrams, notations etc. Drawings have been selected, which each contain a competent and independent appearance. The drawings have been liberated from their educational context. They are not ordered in time, educational level, exercises, courses and so forth, but are grouped into sections in order to allow the insertion of comments.

This text constitutes a described space, which exists in parallel with the space of illustration and the aim is for the reader to draw connections between text and drawing, just at the line is able to contain and open a complex world in creation.

Richly illustrated.Danish and English language edition.
